I want to say that this is a cherry tree from a small or locally owned orchard. In fact, part of my plans for this very week originally were to drive up to the Traverse City area for art reconnaissance. Taking videos and pictures of farms and small businesses for art would be a dream come true!

Meanwhile, I took a picture of this in a Belle Tire and McDonald’s parking lot. This started as a doodle in my sketchbook while I was playing with interference blue, a special pigment that changes it’s color depending on how dark the substrate is. I’ve also read that it can create a smoky encaustic effect when mixed with matte medium. and I chose between mounting is on canvas or a canvas panel. Of course you can see the paper edge, that’s part of it’s charm. Ok, enough of the art nerd stuff.

There are bits that have the interference blue on them in the sky, and for some strange reason, even my scanner is having trouble getting these colors right. I’m using a 10-year-old dvd/tv combo screen as my computer monitor, so let’s say all of my colors take an extra tweak!
