The childlike fingerpainting on the top canvas was covered by darkness. Black paint irreversibly damages the child’s expression, and only by destroying the canvas and cutting holes can we see to the other side.

While we still see the damaged, imperfect reflection of ourselves, there are parts that peak through for us to glimspe how God sees us.
